Hacked Instagram accounts are a common issue. Unfortunately, if this happens, it is difficult, and sometimes almost impossible, to restore it, thus, you should protect it in advance. But how can you do this?
Instagram Account Security: Simple Steps
- Link your Instagram account to your mobile phone, email, and personal Facebook account. Create a complex password of letters, numbers, and symbols, which you will not use anywhere else.
- Enable two-factor authentication via Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication. Now you will receive codes for login via SMS or an app.
- Do not save login data on devices that are used by others. Also, do not leave the password in instant messenger correspondence. If you needed to forward it, be sure to delete the message with it.
- Check the Account Logins tab in the settings and the information saved there. If you see any strange locations in the list, change your password immediately – someone else may be using your account.
- Use only secure Wi-Fi networks, otherwise your information may fall into the hands of strangers.
- Do not follow suspicious links in email or Direct. Recently, there has been an increase in online phishing, which is sending messages with links to fraudulent Internet resources to obtain the user’s login and password, bank card and account information.
- Create a personal profile on Instagram and Facebook with your photos so that if necessary, you can confirm your identity with documents. This will come in handy to communicate with customer support after your account has been hacked.
