The rule that almost everyone is used to may become a thing of the past. We are talking about the norm known as ‘return of goods within 14 days in Ukraine.’ In the new draft law, it is proposed to revise it.

What will change according to the law?
If previously the return of goods under the law of Ukraine could be carried out within two weeks, now such a guarantee may not exist. For offline purchases, the right of return will depend on the seller’s conditions: whether it is indicated in the contract, rules, or on the website.
For remote trading (online sales), the usual rules of returning goods without explanation within the established period after receipt still apply.
Warranty repair periods in Ukraine are also increasing — now up to 30 days may be allowed for fixing defects or replacing goods. On one hand, this gives businesses more time, but on the other hand, it increases the waiting period for the customer.
What is important for the buyer to know: consumer rights in Ukraine in 2026
In practice, this means one thing: before buying, you will have to read the terms more carefully. Attention should be paid to:
- availability of information about returns on the website or in the contract;
- warranty repair terms;
- methods of refund.
It is also better to clarify before buying whether the product can be returned without a reason.
How does this affect business
For companies, the new rules are a reason to review processes:
- update internal regulations;
- review the contracts;
- clearly inform users about return policies and warranties;
- use marketing, online advertising, and a service to minimize conflicts.
DMark specialists view the changes to the “Consumer Protection Law” as a business growth opportunity. It is a chance to strengthen customer trust: when the rules are clear, marketing and service begin to work in a single system and provide more stable results.
